Physician Associates (PAs)

Our Physician Associates are highly trained healthcare professionals who work alongside GPs and other clinicians to provide expert medical care. They help ensure you get timely, safe, and personalised care within the practice.

What They Do

Physician Associates can:

  • Assess and examine patients for a wide range of health concerns
  • Diagnose and manage common conditions, following clinical guidelines
  • Order and interpret tests such as bloods, scans, or ECGs
  • Work with the multidisciplinary team to develop care plans and provide follow-up
  • Refer to specialist services when appropriate

Physician Associates work under the supervision of a GP, but are trained to work independently within their scope of practice. They bring additional capacity to the team, helping patients get seen more quickly and efficiently.

How It Works

  • You may see a Physician Associate for routine consultations, follow-ups, or urgent health concerns
  • They can manage common illnesses, long-term condition reviews, and minor injuries
  • For complex or specialist conditions, the PA works with your GP to ensure the right care and referral

Why This Matters to You

With a Physician Associate:

  • You get faster access to expert medical advice
  • You benefit from high-quality, safe care within your GP practice
  • Your GP team has more time to focus on complex cases
  • You experience joined-up care, as PAs work closely with all members of your healthcare team
  • You receive support from a professional who is fully trained, experienced, and patient-centred
