Mental Health Practitioners (MHPs)

Our Mental Health Practitioners are here to provide support for anyone who may be struggling with their mental health. This is an ageless service – available to both younger and older patients – and covers a wide range of needs.

What They Do

Mental Health Practitioners can:

  • Offer a safe, non-judgmental space to talk about what’s going on for you
  • Carry out an initial assessment to understand your needs and what support will help most
  • Signpost or refer you to specialist mental health services when needed
  • Provide short-term interventions and follow-up appointments if appropriate
  • Support your recovery by helping you access the right care at the right time

What This Means for You

With support from an MHP, you can:

  • Feel listened to and understood without judgment
  • Gain quicker access to the most suitable mental health service
  • Get help managing difficulties before they become more serious
  • Build confidence in your recovery journey with tailored support

How It Works

  • Some patients may only need a one-off appointment, where advice and signposting is given.
  • Others may be offered a short series of follow-up appointments to work on specific goals or coping strategies.
  • If more specialist input is needed, the MHP will make sure you are connected to the right service.

Why This Matters to You

Having access to a Mental Health Practitioner means:

  • Quick, easy access to support – you don’t have to wait or navigate multiple services alone
  • A safe space to talk – you can share your concerns openly, without judgment
  • Personalised guidance – get help that’s tailored to your needs and situation
  • Early support for recovery – prevent issues from escalating by addressing them promptly
  • Connection to the right services – if further specialist care is needed, they’ll make sure you are linked to it
